Forerunner 620

Forerunner 220-620 minisite

It’s the next best thing to having your own personal running coach. Forerunner 620 features recovery advisor, race predictor and VO2 max estimate so you can train smarter. When used with the HRM-Run monitor¹, the 620 also gives you feedback on your running form by showing your cadence, ground contact time and vertical oscillation. For indoor training, the built-in accelerometer tracks distance, so you don’t need a separate foot pod.

It Knows Your Potential

VO2 max screen

Forerunner 620 can estimate your VO2 max, your body’s maximal oxygen consumption. Knowing your VO2 max is a great way to measure your physical fitness and improve your performance. When used with a heart rate monitor, the 620 crunches data, including your running speed, beats per minute and heart rate variability to estimate your VO2 max. The number itself indicates the maximum volume of oxygen you can consume per minute, per kilogram of body weight at your max performance.

A color gauge on the watch shows how your VO2 max data compares to other runners of your gender and age range. Based on your VO2 max estimate, the 620 can predict your race times for several distances. This can give you a time target for your next race, assuming you’ve completed proper training.

Train and Race The Way You Want

Forerunner 620 features separate activity profiles for Ride/Race/Run, and makes it easy to switch between them, for viewing only the information you want to see. The “Ride” profile defaults to speed instead of pace, sets the activity as cycling for Garmin Connect, and supports cycling speed and pedaling cadence measurements when paired with Garmin wireless speed and cadence sensors. The “Race” profile is an additional running profile that allows you to set up and quickly switch to different data fields for races than those you use for day-to-day training.

Rest Day or Run Day

With Forerunner 620, you don’t have to guess how much recovery time you need between workouts. It knows your physiology based on your heart rate data, so it factors this against your last workout and then shows how much time before you are fully recovered and ready for your next hard running workout.

When wearing HRM-Run, the 620 provides a recovery check, which is a real-time indication of your state of recovery within the first several minutes of your run. When you’ve completed a run, the recovery time shows how long before you should attempt another hard workout. Color coding on the gauge makes it easy to interpret — green means you’re good to go. When you see red and a recovery time of more than 3 days, you might consider taking a rest day or just doing a light recovery run.

Following Your Form

Follow your form

The 620 is the first GPS running watch that provides feedback on your running form by reporting multiple metrics. When used with the HRM-Run monitor¹, the 620 reports your cadence, vertical oscillation and ground contact time. These metrics are called running dynamics, and they effect your running economy.

The HRM-Run has an accelerometer, which measures your torso movement as you run to compute these metrics. Cadence is the total number of steps you take per minute, left and right foot combined. Vertical oscillation is the degree of “bounce” in your running motion, measured in centimeters. Ground contact time is just like it sounds — the amount of time your foot spends on the ground during each running step, measured in milliseconds. A color gauge makes it easy to see how your running dynamics compare to other runners.

It has a built-in basemap and tracks your distance, speed, location and ascent/descent. We designed this display to be rugged enough to stand up to the elements, yet sensitive enough to respond to the tap of your gloved hand. Switch training pages or pan and zoom the map with just a tap. The bright, sunlight-readable color display is easy to view in all lighting conditions. Just don’t let its good looks fool you — Edge 800 is waterproof to IPX7 standards and can withstand hard knocks and scrapes it might endure in mountain biking environments.

This aerodynamic bike computer has a carbon fiber look with either blue or white accents and attaches to the stem or handlebar of your bike with the low-profile mount. A quarter-turn mount design holds unit securely and lets you easily swap it between bikes using removable, reusable bands.

Edge 800 can also guide you along routes recorded by other cyclists. Explore Garmin Connect and choose from millions of rides uploaded by other users. Any activities you upload to your Edge 800 are stored as courses. You can follow the course with navigation prompts or, for a little competition, race it and try to beat previously set goals. You can also use BaseCamp to create a route, view elevation changes and other data, and then upload to Edge.

Edge 800 records your every move with a high-sensitivity GPS receiver that stays locked on, even under tree cover. The receiver features HotFix® satellite prediction to calculate your position faster, plus it has automatic time zone adjustment.

Data, Any Way You Want It

Edge 800 tracks a bunch of data from your ride and lets you customize up to 5 training pages so you can see as much or as little data as you want. The barometric altimeter provides extra-precise climb and descent data and records temperature changes.

If you’re a performance cyclist, you can pair Edge 800 with a third-party ANT+ enabled power meter to display your power output in watts as you ride. This valuable data shows you how hard you’re working, regardless of conditions affecting your ride, so you can train smarter. Some versions of Edge 800 also come with a speed/cadence sensor and heart rate monitor.

Monitor Your Health

You also can track weight, body fat, body water and 6 other measurements when using the Edge 800 with theTanita BC-1000 body composition scale. The readings are stored on Edge 800, then automatically sent to Garmin Connect when in range of your computer.

Training Tools

Need a little motivation to push your performance? See how you measure up to the Virtual Partner® — a digital depiction of your goal speed vs. your speed in real-time. Other training features include detailed workout planning, Auto Pause®, Auto Lap® and Courses, which helps you compare successive rides over the same route.

And it’s all seen through our WideVü lens and processed through 16 megapixel CMOS sensor for the highest quality video, even before you start editing it. 1.4″ Chroma Display

True High Definition Recording

Why mash a button and hope you got the shot when you can set-up, preview and playback video on a built-in, full-color chroma display? The 1.4″ display on VIRB is also your window into the menu settings. Check your shot before you leap, choose slow motion or even switch between video and still photography. It’s always on the screen, and the screen is always on (but uses minimal power).

Long-life Battery

VIRB features a class-leading 2000 mAh lithium-ion battery that tested up to 3 hours recording at 1080p. Which means there’s a good chance you’ll tire out before the battery does. Recharging is as easy as connecting it to your computer or plugging it in to a wall. Extend your filming time by carrying a replacement battery (sold separately) on your all-day adventure.

Sleek and Easy-to-use

Long Battery Life

VIRB was engineered for easy operation with a large, instant record slider switch on the side of the camera. The slide and click of the switch makes it easy to know that you are recording, even if you’re wearing gloves. The overall design of the camera is both sleek and rugged which helps you integrate VIRB into your activity without having to work around a blocky camera. So go ahead and ski, zip-line or even bobsled, knowing you got the shot.

Control VIRB Remotely

VIRB uses ANT+™ wireless connectivity so you can use a compatible Garmin device, such as fēnix, Oregon, Edge and select zūmo® models, as remote controls. We’ll also have a dedicated remote control working with the same ANT+ connectivity, so you don’t have to take your hands off the handlebars or remove the camera from the mount to stop and start recording to take still images.

Digital Image Stabilization and More

Digital Stabilization

With the Digital Stabilization feature engaged, VIRB adds a little stability to bumpy rides and adventures so you can share a smoother video with your friends. Plus Lens Distortion Correction (LDC) works to enhance the quality of your video, even before you start editing.

High Definition Photography

VIRB is a high-powered digital photo camera too. With 16 megapixel photo capture LDC to make your photos sharper, clearer and less distorted. Shoot 16 megapixel, 12 megapixel or 8 megapixel as a single shot (on-camera button or controlled remotely) or choose Photo Burst or Time Lapse at various intevals. And it’s all processed through a 16 megapixel CMOS processor for high quality images.

Video and Photographs at the Same Time

Don’t lose a moment of video just to capture a photograph. VIRB lets you take still photos at the same time you are recording video with just a touch of the button on either your remote Garmin device or on the camera itself.

Editing Made Easy

VIRB Edit is free desktop editing software that you can download to your computer for intuitive, robust video editing that takes advantage of Garmin inter-compatibility. For example, VIRB Edit can automatically match video and your Edge bicycle computer data to add speed and cadence to your cycling video or add heart rate to your sky dive. Once you have the video you want to share, upload it to your favorite share sites for all your friends to see.

Mounts

A variety of mounts let you firmly lock the camera in position, virtually anywhere. From curved, flat deck and dash mounts to handlebar, helmet, shoulder and multi-use strap mounts, our mounts have you covered.
