This sharp-cutting, nearly colorless B+W filter blocks UV radiation up to the limit of visible light. It is used in ultraviolet fluorescence photography for the prevention of unsharpness caused by the intense UV illumination (which is due to chromatic aberration in the UV range). It can also prevent the fluorescence that may occur in the cement between lens elements. Because of the usually rather colorful fluo-rescent subjects, the delicate yellow cast in color photographs is negligible. Its filter factor is 1. This filter uses our standard B+W F-Pro filter mount made of brass. Compared to the earlier standard mount introduced in 2001, the F-Pro mount has become thinner. Now it can be used with wide angle lenses, including most 24mm focal lengths on a full frame body, without vignetting. Another advantage of the F-Pro mount is it’s modified retaining ring, which is no longer threaded in from the front, but holds the filter glass in place from the back. When removing a filter or lens hood that has been screwed on too tight to the filter, the retaining ring is not at risk of loosening.

Haze (UV) filters are wise investments. They help protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. If desired they can be left on the lens at all times for protection.
Haze filters provide additional benefits of correction for Ultraviolet(UV) light which can register on film and videotape as a bluish cast and can obscure distant details. Ultraviolet filters allow you to correct for the UV effect to varying degrees.
Neutral Density Filter
ND filters have several uses and offer the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. They enable the shooter to adjust exposure without affecting color balance. ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light reaching the film. Neutral density filters are available in 1, 2, 3, or 4 stops to suit individual situations.
Determining which neutral density filter yields ideal results for any given lighting situation takes knowledge, experience and a collection of such filters. Speaking generally, the 2-stop value (ND 0.6) effectively compensates average situations.
Neutral Density Filters can be used to:
- enable slow shutter speeds to be used, especially with high speed films, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, or cars
- decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background
- decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (above ISO 400) and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situations
- allow cine and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes which could cause overexposure
The lightest B+W Neutral Density Filter attenuates the light by one f-stop (log density 0.3), which can be beneficial, for instance, for the correct exposure of high-speed films when the brightness of the subject is still too high for the fastest shutter speed and the smallest aperture. The Panasonic DMW-LPL37 37mm Circular Polarizer Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. A polarizer is able to absorb much of this polarized light and, in turn, increase the saturation of skies and foliage, cut through distant haze, and minimize reflections in glass and on water.
A circular polarizer differs from a linear polarizer in that it integrates a quarter wave plane within a linear polarizing filter. The addition of this helps to circularly polarize reflected light, which enables your camera’s autofocus and auto-exposure mechanisms to function properly.

Fujifilm X-pro 1 Digital Camera (body Only) : FUJIFILM have developed a new CMOS sensor called the X-Trans CMOS. The X-Trans CMOS sensor is capable of delivering resolution that is parallel, if not superior, to a full frame sensor. The new color filter array paves the way for an ideal sensor that does not need an optical low-pass filter. While the optical low-pass filter is indispensable for the reduction of moir? and false color generated by conventional sensors, it also degrades resolution. FUJIFILM has developed a new color filter array that is inspired by the random arrangement of fine film grain, removing the need for an optical low-pass filter to solve moir? and false color issues. In the array, RGB pixels are arranged in 6×6 pixel sets with high aperiodicity (randomness). Increasing the degree of randomness eliminates the fundamental cause of moir? and false colors ? a problem that occurs in conventional arrays when shooting stripes and other repeating patterns. The Panasonic DMW-LND62 62mm 0.9 Neutral Density Filter is a solid neutral density filter providing an exposure reduction of about 3 stops. This 0.9 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. The B&W 67mm UV-415 (2B) UV-Blocking Filter is nearly colorless and blocks UV radiation up to the limit of visible light. This is a very strong UV filter that is especially useful in digital photography where sensors are particularly susceptible to “noise” in the UV spectrum.
